Power Line Vegetation Management Using the Latest UAV Sensor and Web Mapping Technology
The biggest barrier to adopting LiDAR for vegetation management is the processing and data management of the huge volumes of data that are collected during an UAV inspection flight. Routescene and Dielmo3D have been working on optimising the lidar workflows, from data collection to reporting to make the whole process more efficient. They have been developing automated algorithms to more easily process the data, fusing colour and hyperspectral imagery onto the point cloud to aid the analysis, and hosting the results online to assist in the dissemination of the results. A case study in the UK will be used to illustrate the presentation giving an insight into our experiences with collecting data from an UAV and the challenges that we have faced.
