The Hansadrone “final 50 feet” service is a novel and unique solution for urban drone delivery. Most applications focus on drone delivery in rural/ suburban environments, where there is sufficient space to land. There have been ideas to land drones on rooftops of apartment buildings or to mount landing platforms to balconies but none of them has worked. Landing platforms require large investment and maintenance costs, approval from the respective building owner and have unsolved security and privacy issues. The Hansadrone solution requires no landing platform and has no privacy issues as the drone does need a camera to find its destination.
