This session will explore the evolving regulatory landscape, focusing on the key considerations and frameworks necessary for the safe and effective integration of BVLOS technology within urban and rural environments. Panelists will detail…
- Current Regulatory Frameworks and Future Directions
- Safety and Risk Mitigation Strategies for BVLOS
- Municipal Applications and Benefits of BVLOS
- BVLOS Corridors and Operational Areas
- Data Security and Privacy Implications of BVLOS Operations
- Facilitating Stakeholder Engagement and Public Acceptance
Attendees will come away with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the future of drone technology and harness the transformative potential of BVLOS operations.
12:00-12:25 – Beyond Visual Line of Sight in Mode C Veil: Achieving Safe and Scalable Drone Delivery with ADS-B
As drone delivery services expand, the ability to safely operate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) in controlled airspace is a critical hurdle to widespread adoption. This discussion will explore how uAvionix and Wing are successfully collaborating to achieve BVLOS flights in the Mode C Veil, leveraging ADS-B technology for enhanced airspace awareness and electronic conspicuity. Attendees will gain insights into the role of ADS-B in drone operations and its impact on airspace integration. This session is highly relevant for drone operators, regulators, and UAS stakeholders looking to understand the practical steps required for BVLOS approvals and to explore the broader implications of ADS-B equipage across the industry.

12:30-1:30 – BVLOS Drone Operations: Training, Waivers, and the Future of Complex Missions
In 2016, Part 107 was released, and it greatly simplified the use of (UAS) drones for commercial purposes. Initially, getting approvals (waivers/exemptions) for complex operations outside of Part 107 was difficult for operators to obtain. The process has become easier over time. Today, the FAA has approved many complex drone operations that are providing actual ROI: routine longer range BVLOS for linear infrastructure inspection, unattended drone-in-a-box for security and routine inspection of fixed infrastructure (substations, railyards, etc.), and more.
What does it mean to enable success in this evolving UAS landscape? Experts from Cyberhawk, Skydio, and Censys will answer those questions as they discuss regulations and permissions, BVLOS waivers and operations, and the future of complex drone missions. Panelists will examine the fundamental differences between VLOS and BVLOS operations, the need for diligence in following checklists, avoidance of automation complacency, and how to outline to non-aviation focused program managers the importance of assuring that remote pilots are up to date in their currency of conducting these complex operations. As part of this broader training conversation, panelists will also discuss the importance of SMS and CRM — defining what it means and why it’s important for BVLOS RPAS operations.
