Kelly Powers

Kelly Powers has 15 years of Law Enforcement (LE) experience as a Police Officer for the City of Madison, WI Police Department (MPD). His primary job duties have been with patrol services and Community Policing Teams. Kelly joined the MPD UAS team in 2019, has a 14 CFR Part 107 certified remote pilot since; as well as being credentialed with the Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA) as a certified National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) proctor of the Basic Proficiency Evaluation for Remote Pilots (BPERP). Kelly has also completed New Mexico Tech Drone Assessment and Response Tactics course (cUAS). While serving as one of the teams lead trainers, Kelly has also been the Labor President of the Madison Professional Police Officers Association (MPPOA) since 2019; and serves on the executive board of directors for the state-wide labor board, Wisconsin Professional Police Officers Association (WPPA). By utilizing professional networking through law enforcement relationships Kelly has assisted in the development of UAS training with other agencies, as well as increasing successful mission deployment.
