Kevin Young is an electrical engineer with over 30 years of research and development experience focusing on rapid prototyping and the innovative use of long-wave thermography to solve challenging problems for the Department of Energy. He studied Electrical Engineering at Utah State University and the University of Idaho. He began his professional career as an Air Force officer launching rockets and satellites into space. Since then, he has worked for the Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls and Bechtel National in Pueblo, Colorado where he made time to climb all 58 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks. Throughout his career he has been an avid
supporter of engineering and science outreach, and when not at work, he spends time performing with his jazz quartet throughout Eastern Idaho. He currently works as an electrical engineer for the Idaho Environmental Coalition in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
