Larry Barnard is the People & Processes Operations coordinator for the Chevron Products Company. Larry also oversees development, integration, governance and usage of unmanned systems for the Downstream & Chemicals / Global Manufacturing business units for Chevron in North America. In this UAS role, Larry provides technical, R&D, policies, processes, assessments, and operational support for all North American refining sites. Larry represents the Chevron corporation as an active member of the API and AFPM National UAS working groups. These two teams are made up of all major energy producers working in the United States, and are actively involved in regulatory affairs and proposed rulemaking both locally and in Washington D.C.
Larry celebrated his 30-year anniversary with Chevron in August 2017. His energy industry experience dates to the mid 1980’s when he started working for Chevron as a process unit operator. Since that time, Larry has served in various positions both locally at El Segundo as well as global/overseas assignments. Larry is a proud veteran and served with the United States Coast Guard prior to his career with Chevron. He holds an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate with sUAS rating.
An avid surfer, Larry has enjoyed surfing at locations all over the globe. He has a passion for UAS technology and several years of UAS flying experience. Over the last few years, Larry has been actively incorporating his knowledge of UAS tech into several of Chevron’s local / global operational activities including equipment inspection, security, environmental monitoring, and emergency response.
Larry has been married for 33 years to his wife Kathy and have two adult children. Daughters Kelly (28) works for Boeing in Auburn, WA., and Kristen (23) is a 5th grade Math & Science teacher in Washington.
