Matthew Klein is a civil engineer at the US Bureau of Reclamation's Concrete, Geotechnical and Structural Laboratory in Denver, Colorado. He is a registered PE in the state of Colorado and received his B.S.E. in Civil Engineering from Walla Walla University and M.S and Ph.D. also in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University. Matthew's research focuses primarily on concrete inspection, testing and repair. Specifically, he is interested in classification and detection of concrete deterioration mechanisms using state-of-the-art technology including UAS and the application of novel repair materials and techniques to return deteriorated concrete to a functional state. Dr. Klein holds certifications from the American Concrete Institute in field and laboratory testing and is an ACI Certified Concrete Construction Special Inspector. He is also a DOI-carded/FAA-certified commercial UAS pilot.
