Dr. Scott Burgess is an Associate Professor with 34 years of aviation experience in both military and in civil aviation. As the Chief of Flight operations (UAS) in the Worldwide Department of Flight, he is also an active UAS and aviation safety researcher and faculty for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Worldwide Campus. Scott operates a dozen small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), both multi-copters and fixed wing platforms with various sensor payloads. Burgess conducts flight operations and testing on and near his ranch in Texas and consistently in locations throughout the US and overseas. Dr. Burgess develops UAS, helicopter and safety curriculum and consults on sUAS operations and integration for missions such as insurance, agriculture, construction, reconnaissance, law enforcement, search and rescue, and more. In his outreach, Dr. Burgess is involved in various leadership roles with AUVSI, HAI, USHST, and consults to security and insurance organizations.
