Mr. Fleming retired from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after a career that spanned almost four decades. The first twenty years as an air traffic controller in the Northeast and the remainder as part of the airspace security directorate at FAA Headquarters. At the time of his retirement, he served as the Airspace Security Manager for the System Operations Support Center (SOSC). This highly specialized group is the sole governmental legal authority to authorize emergency certificates of authorization (COAs) and Special Governmental Interest (SGI) airspace waivers, that includes complex BVLOS and DFR operations to support first responders and critical Infrastructure entities.
He is a Senior Partner in the aviation consulting firm, UAS LLC, and is a board member for the non-profit organization, Drone Responders, which serves as an advocate for public safety organizations. UAS LLC assists first responder organizations, UAS manufacturers, commercial operators, and utility / critical infrastructure companies in obtaining complex waiver approvals and assess their program’s regulatory readiness under their current structure as well as prepare for Part 108/46/2209 and EO changes.
Mr. Fleming attended Devry University. He is a published author, award winning screenplay writer, actor, film producer, and film director.
