Drone Controller Harness

What is it?

The Fitek Gear Drone Controller Harness is an ergonomic carry system designed to eliminate the physical strain caused by neck and shoulder straps. While the weight of a controller is one factor, the primary issue is the display position. Standard straps force pilots to bend their necks sharply to view the display, leading to chronic upper back and neck pain—often called “Drone Pilot’s Neck”.

Our harness supports the controller in a stable, mid-chest position angled for a natural line of sight. This keeps the pilot in a neutral posture, ensuring clear sightlines and precise control stick movements even during extended missions. Built on our comfortable, breathable harness, the system is fully adjustable.

Who is using it?

UAV pilots that perform work that requires precise control inputs and to view the display for extended missions. These include pilots performing Search & Rescue, Cinematography, Photography, Inspections, Building Facade Cleaning, Wildfire Hotspot detection. Pilots performing mapping missions that need to remain at the controls in order to be able to quickly take manual control of the UAV to meet regulatory requirements.

How is it making an Impact?

A significant impact of this harness is the reduction of workplace repetitive strain injuries, reduced pilot fatigue, improved productivity, and improved operational safety.

For example, UAV Pilots flying missions to detect Wildfire Hotspots fly missions that can last 12 hours or more. The pilot must be focused on the live video feed for much of the mission in order to document the location of the hotspots. Holding a controller without a harness that places the controller in a stable ergonomic position will lead to significant neck and back issues. After switching to the Fitek Gear Drone Controller Harness crews were able to eliminate neck and back pain.

The harness improves pilot safety during maneuvers like hand-launch and retrieval.
