LW20/C 100m microLiDAR® rangefinder

What is it?

Built for real-world autonomy, where reliability is non-negotiable.

The LW20/C is a Blue UAS Framework listed 100 m microLiDAR® rangefinder built for UAVs and autonomous systems where size, weight, and reliability matter.

At just 19 g and fully IP67-rated, it delivers reliable distance measurements from 0.2–100 m across real-world operating conditions. LightWare’s proprietary first-and-last pulse detection supports reliable measurement in challenging environments such as dust, rain, and light fog, as well as through partial obstructions like vegetation and foliage.

With update rates from 48 to 5,000 readings per second and native integration with PX4, ArduPilot, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi, the LW20/C is a proven, drop-in solution for autonomy at scale.

Who is using it?

The LW20/C is used by leading UAV manufacturers, advanced research teams, and government programmes worldwide — including teams developing drone-in-a-box systems deployed across multiple countries, high-end VTOL platforms, and next-generation autonomous flight systems.

It is trusted in both commercial and government applications where consistent, real-world performance is required, and where systems are expected to operate reliably outside controlled test environments.

As a Blue UAS Framework listed component, it is deployed in programmes that require both proven performance and procurement compliance — making it a practical choice for teams operating at the highest levels of autonomy development and deployment.

How is it making an impact?

Autonomous systems don’t fail in the lab — they fail in the field. The LW20/C is built for that reality.

Its Blue UAS Framework listing removes procurement friction, enabling teams to move faster into government and defence programmes without redesigns or requalification.

The IP67-rated enclosure simplifies integration and reduces the need for additional protection, saving time, cost, and engineering effort — especially in systems exposed to dust, moisture, and harsh operating conditions.

In GNSS-degraded or denied environments, the LW20/C provides reliable ground-referenced distance data, supporting stable altitude control, terrain following, and precision landing when satellite positioning cannot be relied on.

With a 24-month warranty and proven reliability in deployed systems, teams can scale with confidence, knowing the sensor will perform consistently across production volumes and real-world missions.

From early prototyping to full deployment, the LW20/C provides a dependable sensing foundation — helping teams move from testing to operational autonomy, faster and with less risk.

It’s not just a sensor — it’s how teams achieve reliable autonomy in the real world.
