Al Cire is the Natural Resource Specialist for the Shenandoah Valley District of Virginia State Parks. He obtained a BS in Fish & Wildlife Conservation from the University of MD in 1984. Al started his career with VA State Parks as a Chief Ranger in 1988 and moved to become the Assistant Park Manager. In 2000, Al became the first Operations Steward for the VA Division of Natural Heritage, managing Natural Area Preserves across the western portion of VA. in 2010 he returned to state parks as a Natural Resource Specialist and manages prescribed burns, invasive species control, and trail development at 9 parks. In 2023 Al launched the VA State Park drone program. He continues to train pilots and apply drone technology across numerous operational fronts.
