Giuseppe Scannapieco

Giuseppe Scannapieco is a distinguished aviation expert and regulator with more than two decades of experience spanning military flight testing, aircraft certification, unmanned aviation, and Innovative Air Mobility (IAM). He currently serves as Section Manager for Innovative Air Mobility Policy at the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), where he leads policy and regulatory initiatives supporting the safe integration of next-generation air mobility solutions into the European aviation system.

Prior to his current role, Giuseppe held several key positions within EASA, where he coordinated the development of the European regulatory framework for drone operations and certified-category unmanned aircraft systems and lead complex certification projects of several aircraft types.

Before joining EASA, Giuseppe built a strong technical and operational foundation within the Italian Air Force’s Flight Test Centre (Reparto Sperimentale Volo). In a variety of leadership roles, he worked on aircraft systems evaluation, flight testing, handling qualities, human factors, and certification activities. This hands-on experience provided him with deep expertise in flight safety, aircraft performance, and operational risk management.

Giuseppe holds a Master of Science in Flight Test & Evaluation from the prestigious National Test Pilot School and a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, complemented by military studies at the Italian Air Force Academy.
