Stéphane Vaubourg is the U-space Senior Expert and project manager at EASA, responsible for leading the harmonised implementation of U-space in Europe. Accordingly, he is responsible for supporting and overseeing the European and associated Member States, for the continued development of the U-space regulatory framework, as well as for the certification of the USSP applying to EASA.
Graduated in computer science, he started his career as an embedded software engineer within the French aeronautical industry, where he had the opportunity to work with major system suppliers (e.g. Safran and Thales). He then joined Dassault Aviation contributing to the certification of the Falcon jet family and military drones. He has worked for the European Aviation Safety Agency for 14 years, initially within the EASA Certification Directorate as expert in the software, avionics and cybersecurity domains, and started his U-space journey in 2022.
