I am a Partner at Hogan Lovells and Chair of the firm’s global Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Practice Group, a “one-stop shop” for all legal and policy issues related to commercial drones in the United States and around the world. I also serve as Co-Executive Director of the newly launched Commercial Drone Alliance — with a focus on moving the commercial drone industry forward. In these roles, I use my experience in the Federal government to help bridge the sizable knowledge gap between government policymaking and business innovation.
In November 2014, I gave a TEDx talk about “polivation” – a new approach to balancing the needs of innovators and policymakers that will enable society to make good use of new technologies, including commercial and private drones, in a way that wins the public’s trust and serves its interests. In February 2015, I was featured in Fortune magazine’s “Most Powerful Women” series for my efforts to develop policy to govern drone use in the domestic United States.
